CHARACTER NAME: Auguste Tristan Fabrice Bertrand (Please just call him Tristan, though. He is always flustered/embarrassed at how pretentious his full name sounds.)
CHARACTER AGE: 28
BACKGROUND & HISTORY: Tristan Bertrand is a second-generation American, his parents originally hailing from a small town in France. Tristan was born in the city of Boston the year after his parents' move before relocating to a small, practically nonexistent town in southern New Hampshire. Tristan grew up aware of both his French and witch heritages, speaking English as he attended school and with his friends while slipping back into French at home. His father taught him to incorporate his magic into cooking after watching Tristan's first attempt at making cookies. His mother emphasized that he should always use his powers to help others if he could. As an only child, his parents doted upon Tristan. Yet, though spoiled, Tristan retained the hopeful idealism instilled in him by his parents, and he never let his good fortunes go to his head.

Tristan attended Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island, majoring in Baking & Pastry Arts & Food Service Management with honors. He spent the year after graduation working in Paris, and the next four years working in various bakeries in Boston. Tristan loves baking, especially pastries, pies, cakes, and other sweets, and his magic enables him to embed his magic in his cooking. Everyone who eats his food notices afterward that they feel lighter, more carefree, and generally happier. Some find themselves suddenly overcome with a bout of good luck. Those that know of Tristan's abilities can and do request various charms and spells into their food. For an extra price, Tristan usually agrees, unless the person's intent proves to be malevolent.

Tired of the city and tired of New Hampshire, Tristan finally decides to relocate to Siren Cove, a town with which his parents are familiar, having close, witchy connections dwelling within. Tristan feels Siren Cove is the perfect place to begin his life, finally, and so moves there, opening up a small, cozy bakery, The Knights of the Round Pie, in the process. (Note: Can this be added to the town locations? I can write up the description and such! :3)

PERSONALITY: Tristan is something of a well-adjusted dork. He hails from a happy, healthy family, with both of his parents still happily tucked away in their little cabin in New Hampshire. He loves food and he loves magic, and he tends to get excited discussing either of those topics. He can get carried away while speaking, as he tends to speak with his hands as well as his mouth. He tends to ramble on and is prone to occasionally showing off, even though he means well. He can also be a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to cooking, and sometimes gets overly emotional if he feels that said cooking isn't living up to his standards.

He is very much a romantic individual, in love with the idea of being in love but also genuinely seeking out a woman to fall in love with. He is no stranger to relationships, but as he has been the one dumped after each one has ended, it has left him insecure when he comes across a woman he likes. Also, he blushes. A lot.

He drinks rarely, usually only socially. He does smoke, but like his drinking habits, not often, usually when stressed.

He also happens to have a penchant for mystery novels and cats. His favorite sleuth is not, as most would expect, Sherlock Holmes, but rather, a delightful eleven-year old chemist with her own penchant for poisons, Flavia de Luce. Hence, his sole companion in his apartment above his bakery, a charming black cat with the cold blue gaze of the de Luces, Flavia.

Typically, Tristan is easy to get along with. He dislikes snobs, ironically, since he tends to be a food snob himself, and those that belittle others in any way, shape, or form.

OPINION OF THE RIVALRY: Newly arrived to town, Tristan is only just discovering the rivalry and doesn't know quite what to make of it. As a witch himself, he is generally sympathetic to the Coombs in a show of solidarity, but some of what he uncovers of the Coombs' past horrifies him. He is not overly fond of the Thorntons, however, finding them snobbish and stand-offish in a way that reminds him of some of his less liked classmates from high school.

LIFESTYLE: Tristan lives in a cozy apartment above his bakery, The Knights of the Round Pie, with his cat, Flavia. He works in his bakery five days a week, and when he is not there, he can usually be found reading in the park, the library, hanging out at the Quill, or exploring the town, particularly the boardwalk area. Tristan appreciates love in all its forms while being straight, himself.

HUMAN, WITCH, OR SIREN: Witch. He specializes in food magics, charms, and some healing spells. He tries to follow his parents' example and make use of his abilities for good.

PLAYED BY: Lee Pace.
